A few flaws

I received this product as a gift. It displays pictures nicely and is easy to set up.. but I had to give it 2 stars for a few reasons. It advertises that it holds 2,000 pictures and it only held 105 pictures of mine. My picture sizes aren’t that large so what gives? The adjustable frame stand is also made of cheap plastic that has no straight edge, so it slides down anywhere you place it and doesn’t stand straight. Hanging it is the best option, but it doesn’t come with a battery operation option, so you have a silly cord hanging from it. I will probably end up taking it to work. The price is right.. but you get what you pay for.

frame does work good but comes with NO manual, the setup file is hidden to people who know nothing about computers. it will only work with pictures with .jpg or .jpeg extensions. could find no webpage for support and none is listed on the box. it’s a OK buy.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, giving careful consideration to making galore easy Valentine’s snacks that the little ones may fetch to school? Whether you are preparing them for your own child’s lunch or as a special treat for the class, here are a heap of snacks that are easy to transport and easy for the little ones to devour once they dig in!

Marshmallow-Popcorn Hearts are a simple substitute to popcorn balls. With this recipe, you may skip the Karo syrup and just melt a heap of marshmallows instead! This quick and easy recipe works just like Rice Krispie bars, only with popcorn instead!

Here’s what you need to get started:

o 10 cups popped popcorn

o 3 tablespoons margarine or butter

o 1 10-ounce package regular marshmallows

o Red feed coloring

o Red colored sugar

Directions

o Put the popped corn (minus the unpopped kernels) into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan and keep it warm in your 300 degree oven.

o Melt the butter/margarine and marshmallows in a big kettle or in the microwave. (Microwave: 1 ½ to 2 minutes, stirring once) Stir the mixture until it is smooth, no lumps, and then add the red feed coloring.

o Stir in the popped popcorn- regarding half at a time.

o Wait 10 minutes or so until it is cool sufficient to handle.

o Grease person heart shaped pans with butter.

o Press the popcorn mixture into the greased pans.

o Cool the popcorn hearts. Remove from pans. Sprinkle each with red colored sugar.

o Wrap each on an individual basis in plastic wrap- pink or red finishes it off nicely.

o Makes 9 hearts.

This one is a little messy, but for an extra-special treat, exclusions may be made to almost any rule. Take along a pre-packaged wet napkin in a zippered plastic bag to support in quick clean-up.

Candy Apple or Caramel Apple Valentines

1 bag of caramels

1 pack of craft sticks (like popsicle sticks)

1 bag of apples or your choice

wax paper

cake embellishing tool

Flavored icing

Melt the caramels or hard candy according to the package directions. Insert a craft stick into one end of each apple. Dip the apple into the melted caramel, covering it completely. Lift the apple and let it drip for a few seconds and then set it on the wax paper until totally set- in regards to two hours) Use your cake embellishing tool (or a plastic bag with a hole in the corner and a embellishing tip) to write a nice message on each apple. Wrap in plastic wrap and secure the wrap at the top of the apple with a rubber band, leaving the stick exposed as a handle.

Finally, you may mix up these peppermint stars from a quick meringue batter. They make a tasty little treat that travels well in a lunch.

Peppermint Stars

Makes: 45 cookies

Prep: 30 minutes

Bake: 15 minutes

Ingredients

o 2 egg whites

o 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

o 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

o 1/2 cup sugar

o 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

o Red feed coloring (optional)

Directions

1. Place egg whites in a medium mixing bowl; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2. Line two huge cookie sheets with brown paper or foil; set aside.

3. Add vanilla and cream of tartar to egg whites. Beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until soft peaks form (tips curl). Gradually add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating until stiff, shiny peaks form (tips stand straight) and sugar dissolves. Quickly beat in peppermint extract. Tint pink with assorted drops of red feed coloring, if desired.

4. Using a pastry tube with a huge star embellishing tip, pipe cookies onto prepared cookie sheets (form cookies when it comes to 1-1/2 inches in diameter). Bake in a 300 degree F oven for 15 minutes. Turn off oven and let cookies arid in oven with door closed regarding 30 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets. Cover and store in a arid place. Makes 45 cookies.

Bait-and-Switch???

Big Kiss for You plush puppy was the item ordered; what I received? The Wild About You, plush monkey instead! (And no rose included although it is pictured as part of the monkey package.) No explanation provided – come on folks, couldn’t you have at least notified me/given me the option to cancel? Okay, so it’s cute, but the puppy was chosen because the recipient LOVES dogs! Too late to return by Valentine’s Day so just went with it, but quite saddened with the lack of consideration by the seller. (Have since read review of same thing happening on baby gift package, same seller. Oh dear…)

only lasted for a few days

I bought this frame for my husband for our third anniversary (leather anniversary). I had been looking at digital picture frames, and only got this one since it was leather (will be getting a different one to replace it). When it arrived I loaded up a memory card with photos, cropping & rotating as needed and had it ready to go when he unwrapped it. It worked fine the first night, he was impressed, but it’s not very intuitive. Everytime you turn it on you must select where the photos are. So that was part of my turning on routine. Well today, it started to shut down after only showing a few of the 50+ photos I had on the memory card. I tried turning it off and on, still same problem. Unplugged it (reboot?), still same problem. Then I noticed that the digital clock display in the upper left corner (something I tried turning off, but couldn’t) had the number starting to deviate. So I’m returning it and will be getting another brand…too bad since the leather frame was actually a nice touch.

Not for Nikon Coolpix S8100

Bought this along with a new Nikon Coolpix S8100. The case is too small for this camera. The camera is too long for the case and won’t sit all the way down into it, and the velcro strap barely gets around the camera. The construction of the case is good, and I’ll use it for a different camera. It could also be improved with the inclusion of a belt loop, but the carabiner will work for most. I’m not sure how the Coolpix S8000 would fit, don’t know if it’s any smaller than the 8100.

Do NOT Buy….too small for Nikon S8100

I read the mixed reviews for the EVA Carrying Case and decided to temp fate. Well, guess what? I was wrong. The case is TOO SMALL for the Nikon S8100. Technically, the camera “fits”, provided you are willing to “squish” the Nikon S8100 camera a tad bit….and why would you want to do that? The inner secure strap does not fit around the Nikon S8100 because the camera is too large. Although the case contains a small lining for an extra memory chip or battery, you CANNOT close the case if you add a chip or battery along with the camera. Don’t get me wrong, the case is compact, sturdy and easy to carry but the issue is the case IS NOT made for the Nikon S8100. Don’t tempt fate like I did!

Nice Case for a Nice Cam

I bought this case back to back with the purchase of my Nikon Coolpix S8000. While it shipped separately from the camera, it was well worth the wait. For years, I’ve been more of a traditionalist with my cameras, much preferring a bulking digital camera that hangs around my neck and makes me look like a tourist. I like the feel of a nice sized digital cam in my hands rather than the matchbox digital cams that have been on the market these days. But the 10x zoom and some other options sold me on the S8000, plus I wanted a high end pocket sized cam for a vacation trip.

Like I said, I bought the case at the same time as the camera. It has dual zippers and is a nice rubber shell which would definitely protect it if I dropped it. The cam fits snug inside with a velcro strap for protection. There’s one mesh pocket on the opposite size perfect for a few memory cards. The case also came with a carabineer clip which doesn’t really fit the snap clip on the side so it’s pretty useless. Also, although it was of no interest to me, the Live Green band bracelet did not come with the case either.

Great price! And a good investment for this camera.
